Getting ready for all the new faces!

July 23, 2010

Hello everyone and welcome! My name is Montville Mary and I will be here everyday giving you updates on the latest news from Hidden Valley. So without any further ado, here is the latest news!

All of the staff are back at camp after a brief period of time off. We're feeling rejuvenated and ready to welcome the new campers tomorrow. Today has been a busy day, running around and getting everything organized and ready. We have had meetings with all of our fellow co-counsellors to talk about our new campers, and how we want our cabin to be run. With a month under our belts, we're all feeling very eager to start!

There are a few campers here who are staying for the full eight weeks or six weeks.  Whilst the staff were away for the day, they went on a trip with all of the other campers and two counsellors. Yesterday they went to Moose Point State Park, I heard they actually saw a moose! They played frisbee, football, soccer, and all sorts of other games. Later on they came back to HVC and had a slumber party in the Rec Hall. They stayed up and watched a movie, The Karate Kid. Earlier today they came back from their fun trip to a water park where they went go-carting and went down some fun slides. At 5:30 they met all of their new counsellors, because almost everyone moved cabins during the intersession, and have settled in.

Counsellors and the campers who are here spent the evening working on all sorts of decorations for the cabins. We made bunk tags, welcome signs, chore charts, everything!  It's been a fun evening of preparation.

It's about 8 o' clock now and we're all getting ready to head back to our cabins because it has been a long day. We'll all be in the frontyard ready to greet new faces and we'll be stocked with games to play and stuff to do. It will be nice to have all of the cabins full again!

I will let you all know how arrival day goes tomorrow.

Yours truly, Montville Mary
