Meet the 2010 Staff

Addam comes to Hidden Valley from Burlington, VT. His interests include music, cooking, and art, and he enjoys meditation and walking in the woods. Addam is an artist and a musician.

Alia joins us from Baton Rouge, LA. She is a student at Occidental College and enjoys rock climbing, dancing, and juggling. Her interests include theatre, dance, philosophy, photography and travel.

Amanda joins us from Cheshire, CT. She is a student at Fordham University studying English. Her interests include writing, running, playing sports, and swimming in the lake.

Ambreen is from Manhattan, NY. She recently graduated from NYU with a degree in Speech Therapy. Her hobbies include writing, cooking, photography, and yoga. She is also interested in volunteering in Costa Rica after this summer at camp.

Amy comes to us from Ashby, MA. She is a recent graduate from Santa Clara University, where she studied French and Political Science. Her hobbies include cooking and dancing. In the fall she plans on teaching English in Toulouse, France.

Anne-Marie is from Coventry, UK. She is a horse riding instructor and competes with her own horses at home whenever possible. Along with horse riding she is interested in art and travel and loves to shop.

Becca joins us from Newton, MA. Her areas of interest include economic, politics, and traveling. After summer at camp she plans on going to South Korea to teach.

Billy hails from Northampton, England. He is a student at De Montfort University, studying graphic design. His hobbies include photography, drawing, sports, and swimming. He also enjoys martial arts and Ju Jitsu.

Britny comes to us from Farmington, ME. She is interested in arts, singing, landscaping, knitting and special education, and while not at camp she is substitute teaching, finishing teacher certifications, and making art.

Brittany W joins us from Machias, ME. She is a student at the University of Maine-Orono studying Public Relations and Communication. Her hobbies include playing the flute, writing, and dancing (ballet, jazz, and modern).

Bryn hails from Conifer, CO. She is a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder studying speech, learning & hearing science and psychology. Her hobbies include musical theatre, photography, film, reading, writing and hiking.

Caroline F comes to Hidden Valley from Boston, MA. She is a student at Wesleyan University studying English. Her hobbies include playing squash, skiing, and theatre.

Carolyn B is from Boston, MA. She recently finished a gap year in Southeast Asia and southern South America and plans to begin her freshman year at NYU in the fall. Her hobbies include writing, cooking, drawing, making collages, spinning, and playing tennis.

Casey joins us from Rockport, ME. She is a high school tutor and is interested in music and elementary education. Her hobbies include reading and writing.

Cassie is from Gorham, ME. She is a Resident Assistant and student at the University of Maine at Farmington, where she studies secondary education and social studies. Her hobbies include karate, kayaking, and swimming.

Ceisley hails from Apple Valley, CA. She is a student at Chapman University where she majors in theatre and minors in music. She enjoys dancing, singing, reading, watching movies, church, humor, and the young Americans.

Claire comes to us from Newark, DE. She is a Green Mountain College graduate who is interested in sciences, recreation and biology. Her hobbies include camping, hiking, climbing, and canoeing. Claire is also an EMT, Ski patrol, and an Innkeeper.

Clarissa B-L is from Fairfield, ME. While studying Theatre and Education at the University of Southern Maine, she also caters for a school cafeteria. Her hobbies include dancing, singing, painting and theatre.

Clarissa F joins us from New York City. She is a student at Oberlin College majoring in Environmental Studies and Studio Art. She enjoys painting, running, swimming, and pottery.

Courtney is from Quincy, MA. She is interested in English Literature, History, and Creative Writing and plans to be a Teaching Assistant at Suffolk University. She enjoys writing, reading, jogging, and swimming, as well as animals, music, and yoga.

Dan M is from New York, NY. He has worked as a special education assistant teacher. Dan attended Lewis and Clarke, His hobbies include music, pottery, painting, and marbles.

Dan Sc hails from Baltimore, MD where he builds police cars. He is interested in engineering, real estate investment, and sports. His hobbies include electronics repair and mountain biking.

Daniel St comes to Hidden Valley from Indianapolis, IN. He is a student at Indiana University, where he is studying Political Science, Philosophy, and French. His hobbies include dance marathons, ice hockey, climbing trees, and impersonating English & New Zealand accents.

Dave D is from Cheshire, CT. He is a student at Alfred University and a librarian at Herrick Memorial Library. His interests include ceramics, painting, and printmaking. He also enjoys power-walking and pizza.

Dave W joins us from New Jersey. He is a student at Berklee College of Music as well as a recording artist and music teacher. His hobbies include playing guitar and writing music.

David K is from Baltimore, MD. He is a university student interested in music, guitar, philosophy, linguistics, debates, politics, and the environment. He also enjoys baking and eating desserts, as well as eating desserts that other people have made.

Denise is from Winterport, ME. She is a student at UMO, where she is studying English and Anthropology. Her hobbies include art, playing the guitar, traveling, making jewelry, and decorating shoes with sharpies.

Diana comes to Hidden Valley from Wilmington, DE. Her interests include education, creative writing, martial arts, hiking, and climbing. She also enjoys aikido and ken-jitsu.

Eggy joins us from Cincinnati, OH. She is a full time college student interested in art. Her hobbies include riding her bike, sewing, and playing basketball.

Elizabeth H is from Marlboro, VT. She attends Marlboro College where she studies theatre and gender studies. Her hobbies include poetry, adventuring, yoga, cloud-gazing, flower picking, writing, and long conversations with great friends.

Ellie hails from Portsmouth, NH. She studies Studio Art and Education at Colorado College. Her hobbies include drawing, hiking, backpacking, road-biking, photography, and finding chickens to take care of.

Emily joins us from Philadelphia, PA. She attends Ithaca College where she studies Sociology and English. She loves the outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, and Teo Kwon Do.

Emma D is from Sag Harbor NY & Norway, ME. She studies Psychology and Spanish at Wheaton College as well as a swim teacher and a librarian. She is interested in art, the outdoors, and the ocean. Her hobbies include concerts, swimming, skiing.

Emma T is from London and joins us from New York. She currently attends Bard College where she studies photography and sociology. Her hobbies include photography and theatre.

Eric is from West Fairlee, VT. He attends Lyndon State College where he studies English and Secondary Education. His interests include acting, writing, hiking, fitness, and music and he enjoys both rural and urban adventures.

Ezra joins us from Jacksonville, FL. He is a university student studying political science and journalism. His hobbies include sports and jamming with his band.

Flo is from Lille, France. He is currently attending college at Polytech in France. Flo enjoys many different sports, and will be teaching swimming and mountain biking this summer at HVC.

Galen is from Indianapolis, IN. She attends University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studies psychology, French, and Public Relations. Galen likes to run (in shoes as well as barefoot), participate in dance marathons, read, and bake cookies.

Grace B comes to us from Bowling Green, OH. She is a student at Smith College where she is interested in Environmental Science, Anthropology and English. Her hobbies include running, playing guitar, painting, reading books, and travelling.

Grace P is from Brooklyn, NY. She attends Oberlin College where she studies Theatre and Sociology. As hobbies, Grace likes to dance, travel, eat great food, and go to art museums.

Gretchen hails from Hermitage, PA. She is a student at Ohio Wesleyan University majoring in Fine Arts and minoring in Sociology. Her hobbies include drawing, painting, playing waterpolo, and being a member of her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.

Hallie is from Tiverton, RI. She is a university student focusing on Peace & Conflict Studies and Latin American Studies. Hallie enjoys photography, hiking, cooking, and gardening.

Hannah B joins us at Hidden Valley from Worcestershire, England. She is studying sports science at Glouceslershire University and enjoys horse riding, netball, rugby, and swimming.

Hannah R hails from Hamden, CT. She is a student at Connecticut College where she is studying Spanish and Sociology. Hannah enjoys playing lacrosse, biking, and baking.

Hannah S comes to us from Katonah, NY. She is a student at Kenyon College where she is interested in studying Spanish. Hannah is also interested in dance and art.

Heather joins us from Caledonia in Ontario, Canada. She is a student at University of Guelph where she is majoring in Zoology. Heather’s hobbies include dancing, figure skating, and field hockey.

JP comes to Hidden Valley from Foxton Beach in New Zealand, where he is a teacher. He is interested in surfing & life saving, various sports such as rugby and golf, and cooking. He also enjoys traveling.

Jake hails from Kalamazoo, MI. He is an independent filmmaker who is interested in film/video/art cinema, web design, and history. Jake’s hobbies include film production, filmmaking, web design, and drinking coffee.

James is from Dumfries, Scotland. When not at camp, he is a lifeguard, teacher, and full-time student. James is interested in aeroplanes and all kinds of music, as well as the piano and clarinet. He also enjoys various sports, such as swimming and hockey.

Jeremy comes to us from Amherst in Boston, MA. He is a filmmaker interested in theatre, automotives, music, ultimate Frisbee, and sunshine. His hobbies include eating ice cream and compassing “computer music”.

Jes O is from Hillsboro, NH. She attends McDaniel College where she studies theatre & arts management, fine arts, and Spanish. Jes enjoys painting, daydreaming, and travelling and plans to teach English in Spain after this summer.

Jessica G hails from Chappaqua, NY. She attends the University of Hartford where she studies Sociology and Communications. Jessica is interested in photography, reading, animals, and her hobbies include leading her sorority.

Jessica L comes to Hidden Valley from Saco, ME. She is interested in American Studies, Theatre, and Education and attends Smith College. In her free time, Jessica enjoys swimming, writing, theatre, and music.

Jhon Sa comes to us from Pitalito, Colombia. He is a university student studying Spanish, English, and P.E., as well as a primary school teacher. Jhon’s hobbies include dancing, travelling, cooking, and listening to music.

Jo is from Litchfield, England. When not at camp she is an au pair in Brittany, France. Jo is interested in Classical mythology, Robin Hood, and Medieval Studies and her hobbies include horse riding, reading, and learning French.

John St comes to Hidden Valley from Indianapolis, IN. He is a student there studying photography, cinematography, and film. John enjoys playing with kittens, capturing fireflies, discovering new music, photography, running and bonfires.

Johnny hails from Los Angeles, CA. He a student and a barista interested in theatre, film, improv, writing, drawing and singing. He also enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, biking, climbing, and singing.

Justin joins us at Hidden Valley from Scarborough, ME. He is a university student interested in rehabilitation services and theatre. Justin enjoys reading and watching movies.

Kate is from Christchurch, New Zealand. She is interested in psychology, massage therapy, and the classics. Kate also enjoys sports such as netball and soccer. When not at camp she is part of the youth staff on an Australian cruise ship.

Katie joins us from North Haven, CT. She is a nanny for an 8 year old girl and a 10 year old girl, and is interested in becoming a teacher. Her hobbies include soccer, running, and reading.

Kendra is from Berwick, ME. She is a university student studying Biology and Chemistry, as well as a Resident Assistant and a nurse. Her hobbies include singing in her A Capella group, smiling, and llama wrangling!

Keyth comes to us from Philadelphia, PA. He is interested in theatre, hiking, camping & backpacking, and computers. Keyth’s hobbies include stage management and set design, as well as helping his fraternity fundraise for local and national organizations.

Kim is from Belfast, ME. She is a university student at GWU studying International Affairs with a concentration in development. Her hobbies include soccer, skiing, camping, and hiking.

Kristin C hails from Kiel, Germany. She is a university student whose hobbies include horse-riding, reading, and playing the piano.

Kristen B comes from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is a graduate student at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. Her areas of interest include education and sociology, and she enjoys sports, running, and reading.

Lauren D joins us at Hidden Valley from New Jersey. She is a horse instructor and trainer interested in education and ecology. Lauren’s hobbies include horses, kayaking, and walking dogs.

Lauren R is from Buckinghamsire, England. She studies physical education at her university and is interested in sports such as cricket and netball. Lauren also enjoys horse-riding and spending time with friends.

Leda hails from Murphy’s, CA. She graduated from Sonoma State University with a major in Environmental Education and a minor in Studio Art. Leda enjoys photography and llamas. This is her eighth year at Hidden Valley.

Lee is from Amherst, MA. She just recently graduated from Mount Holyoke College, where she studies film and education. Her hobbies include Tae Kwon Do and watching movies.

Lindsay joins us from Steubenville, OH. She earned a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Youngstown State University and is currently earning a Masters of English. She is a substitute teacher, lifeguard, and piano instructor who is interested in art, music, and reading.

Luke is from Northampton, MA. He is currently working of his MFA in creative writing at Amherst. Luke has worked as a college writing instructor. This summer he will be teaching stained glass and glass fusing.

Margaret hails from San Antonio, TX. She attends Whitman College where she studies politics and studio art. Margaret’s hobbies include playing the saxophone and reading.

Meg is from Boston, MA. She attends Drew University where she studies English and theatre and is on the equestrian team. She enjoys horseback riding, water skiing, wakeboarding, snow skiing, and saving the world.

Melanie is from West Nyack, NY. She is a student at the University of Vermont and is interested in volleyball, camping, and the New York Giants.

Melissa is from Kalamazoo, MI. She attends Western Michigan University, where she is studying secondary English education and political science. Her interests include literature, political campaigns, decorating her apartment, blogging, and getting crafty!

Natalie comes to Hidden Valley from Littleton, CO. She is a nanny and university student studying sociology and education. Her hobbies include crocheting, reading, and playing with her brother.

Phillie joins us from New Zealand. When she is not at camp she is travelling and lifeguarding and is particularly interested in swimming, cycling, and hiking.

Rachel is from Edinburgh in Scotland, UK. She attends Edinburgh University and is a fitness instructor. Rachel is interested in horse-riding, running, swimming, and dancing and loves chocolate and puppies.

Rebecca comes to us from San Antonio, TX. She attends Pomona College and is interested in media studies, religious studies, baking, movies, and playing the cello.

Robbie hails from Murphy’s, California. He studies graphic design at Sonoma State University and is a grape farmer. Robbie is interested in art, music, computers and the outdoors. He enjoys skiing, biking, ceramics, cooking, and boxing.

Rory is from Cambridge, England. He studied Education and English at Brighton University. His hobbies include football and music. He will be teaching ropes and sports this year at camp.

Ruth A is here from Hong Kong. She is a student who studies sports therapy in Scotland. Her hobbies include running, cooking, swimming, and white water kayaking.

Sandy joins us from Marblehead, MA. He is a student at Alfred University majoring in art, and more specifically, is interested in printmaking, drawing, and photography. He enjoys listening to music, raising vegetables, and exploring the wilderness.

Sarah L hails from Marton in New Zealand, where she is a teacher. She loves the water and will be lifeguarding and teaching swimming this summer.

Sarah M comes to Hidden Valley from Hawera, New Zealand. She is a hospitality worker who enjoys travelling, horse riding, and the beach.

Sean P is from Rotorua, New Zealand. He is a swimming teacher and interested in law. His hobbies include motorcross, rowing, rugby, and going to the gym.

Seann C hails from Vermont. When he is not at camp, he is a cook. His areas of interest include photography and music and he enjoys mountain biking.

Shannon comes to us from Springfield, VT. She is a university student and a nanny who is interested in art, sculpture, and nursing. Shannon’s hobbies include biking, swimming, and reading.

Tamar joins us from Livingston, NJ. She attends the Rhode Island School of Design and studies textiles. Tamar enjoys singing, drawing, and attempting to play the guitar.

Tessa comes to Hidden Valley from Saco, ME. When not at camp she spends much of her time as the president of the Campus Residence Council, volunteering in kindergarten classrooms and coaching tennis. Tessa also enjoys scrapbooking and reading.

Will joins us from Buffalo, NY. He attends Hamilton College where he studies anthropology, history, and development studies. Having just recently spent a semester in Uganda, he plans on spending next semester in India. Will enjoys climbing trees, outdoor pursuits, spontaneous sports and artistic creativity.

Zach joins Hidden Valley from Toledo, OH. He is a prospective teacher of Language Arts and is interested in music, sports, writing, and history. Zach’s hobbies include playing the drums, collecting newspapers, and following Detroit sports.
