Meet the 2011 Staff

Abi joins us from Hastings, England where she works as a primary school teacher. In her free time, she enjoys horse-riding, reading, watching films and is interested in art.

Addam C. comes to Hidden Valley from right here in Freedom, Maine. His interests include music, painting and farming, and he enjoys selling music and art and making friends wherever he goes. Adam is an artist and farmer.

Adam P. hails from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. His hobbies include origami and chess. Adam is interested in wildlife and ecology, and is looking forward to beginning his career in the biological science field after camp.

Ali is from Liverpool, England. She has a degree in journalism and loves to horse riding, skiing, swimming, reading, and live music. When she isn't at HVC she is back at home training to be a teacher.

Alia is a recent college graduate from Baton Rouge, LA. She loves acting and philosophy, and her hobbies include street performance and dance. Alia is excited to return for her second year.

Alicia is from Warren, Michigan. At home, she works at a movie theater near her school in Kalamazoo, MI. Her hobbies include reading, riding her bike, and drinking lots of coffee. She is also interested in volunteering in creative writing, poetry, cooking, and collage-making.

Amanda joins us from Cheshire, CT. She is a student at Fordham University and is interesting in writing, reading poetry, and visual arts. Her interests include rollerblading, running, and watching movies.

Anthony comes to us from across the pond in Essex, England. He is studying Theoretical Physics at Durham University, and his hobbies include playing guitar and piano, skiing, and volunteering.

Billy hails from Northampton, England. He is a student at De Montfort University, studying graphic design. His hobbies include photography, drawing, sports, and swimming. He also enjoys martial arts and Ju Jitsu.

Becca is studying Sports Rehabilitation in London and is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She coaches rugby, and enjoys playing sports and being outside.

Britny was born and raised in Farmington, ME. She is interested in arts, philosophy, and learning about world cultures. While not at camp she works as an elementary school art teacher and enjoys working in her studio.

Bryn is a student at Colorado University at Boulder and was born and raised in Conifer, CO. She studies Psychology and spends time doing musical theater, photography, writing, and interpretive dance.

Native Mainer, Casey is an Elementary Education major at the University of Maine at Farmington. When she has free time, Casey enjoys reading, writing, and swimming. She looks forward to beginning her teaching career after camp.

Cassie comes to HVC from Gorham, Maine. When not at camp, Cassie works as a substitute teacher, and her hobbies include swimming, Shaolin-Kempo karate, and rollerblading. As a third-year counselor, she is very excited to be back!

Charlie is from Brewood in the United Kingdom. Sports, math, and science are some of her interests in school, and she loves netball, swimming, and ice-skating. When not at camp, Charlie teaches swimming and lifeguards in the UK.

Clarissa joins us from New York City. She is a student at Oberlin College in Ohio, studying studio art and environmental studies (with an energy focus). Her hobbies include running, painting, playing soccer, swimming, and cooking.

Conrad hails from Ames, Iowa and enjoys water-sports, biking, camping and climbing. He is interested in physics and philosophy and works on boats in his free time.

Courtney is from Boston, MA, and some of her interests include literature, music, slow food, and sustainable living. Courtney loves playing with dogs, running, and daydreaming. She hopes to travel and continue learning about and working on organic farms after the summer.

Dan Sc hails from Baltimore, MD where he builds police cars. He is interested in engineering, real estate investment, and sports. His hobbies include electronics repair and mountain biking.

Daniel St comes to Hidden Valley from Indianapolis, IN. He is a student at Indiana University, where he is studying Political Science, Philosophy, and French. His hobbies include dance marathons, ice hockey, climbing trees, and impersonating English & New Zealand accents.

Dave D is from Cheshire, CT. He is a student at Alfred University and a librarian at Herrick Memorial Library. His interests include ceramics, painting, and printmaking. He also enjoys power-walking and pizza.

Denise, a native Mainer, is a full-time student studying English and Anthropology. She takes pleasure in glasswork, writing, drawing, macramé, and coloring with sharpies. This is Denise's third year as a camp counselor at HVC.

Eric joins us from West Fairlee, Vermont where he enjoys hiking, camping, writing, and photography. He spends time exploring different areas of Vermont, and is looking to get a job in the conservation field after camp.

Emma is from London and studies Anthropology at Bard College. She enjoys making jam and playing with her bunny.

Ezra joins us from Jacksonville, FL. He is a university student studying political science and journalism. His hobbies include sports and jamming with his band.

Gabby, joining us all the way from Nottingham, England, is interested in physical geography and spends her time horse-back riding, hugging trees, and caring for her horse.

Geeta hails from Wallingford, CT and is a double major in Politics and International/Global Studies. Some of her hobbies include theater design and production, sculpture, and writing.

Grace B. comes to HVC from Matinicus, Maine, and she studies English and Anthropology. She spends her free time running, biking, playing guitar, and traveling.

Grace G. is back for her 2^nd summer, hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland. When she is not at camp, Grace works at a bank and is interested in running and fitness. She also enjoys traveling and show-jumping horses.

Grace P. is returning for her 3^rd summer as an HVC counselor and 9^th overall. Brooklyn, New York is her hometown, and she enjoys art, cooking, traveling, and swimming. Grace studies theater and dance at Oberlin College.

Hallie is a resident of Tiverton, Rhode Island and studies peace and conflict resolution in addition to Latin American studies at Guilford College. Some of her hobbies include hiking, swimming, and gardening.

Hannah B. is from Worcestershire, England. She just completed university, and she works as a nanny when not at camp. Her hobbies include netball, swimming, and horse riding.

Hannah M. is from Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a full-time student studying History and Politics. She enjoys surfing, reading, windsurfing, and salsa dancing.

Hannah O. is from Needham, MA. She is a freshman and NYU and is an aspiring journalist. She enjoys traveling, blogging, magazine journalism, and dance.

Hanum hails from Baltimore, Maryland and is in school for Animal and Environmental Science at the University of Maryland. Her hobbies include horseback riding, reading, and volunteer work.

Heather comes from Guelph Ontario, Canada. She is a Zoology major and conducts research when not at camp. She enjoys dance, school, and shopping.

Hilary joins us at Hidden Valley from Trumball, CT. She is an Art and Philosophy major at Conn. College. Hilary's hobbies include art, curling, and reading.

Jack is from Downingtown, PA. He is a studio arts major; art, sculpture, and wheel throwing are some areas he is interested in. Jack enjoys clay wheel, long boarding, drumming, and making art.

Jade, originally from Oceanside, California, studied Business and Women's Studies at university. In her free time, Jade enjoys climbing, softball, water-sports, and activism.

Jake currently lives in Kalamazoo, MI and works as an independent filmmaker. He is interested in computer programming, web design, and drinking coffee.

Jamie, born in Southampton, UK, but now living in Cape Cod, MA, attends Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia. He studies visual effects and plays the guitar and drums for fun.

Jen is from Indiana, PA, and she is interested in drawing and painting. Writing, reading, hiking, and meditating are some of her favorite activities. When not at camp, Jennifer teaches art K-12.

Jenny is a Springfield, Vermont resident and studies education at Stonehill College. She loves dance, art, and reading and is looking forward to HVC this summer!

Jes O. hails from Hillsboro, NH and takes pleasure in playing baseball, training her new puppy, and traveling. She is also interested in theater and arts management and is looking forward to beginning her career as an admission counselor after camp.

Jess L. is a native Mainer who enjoys acting, singing, watching obscure films, and crafting. She studied Theater, Education, and American Studies, and will begin the job-hunting process after camp.

Jessica R. comes to us from Emmaus, PA, and enjoys running, hiking, swimming, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. She is interested in natural healing and alternative medicine, and she works as a dog groomer when not at camp.

Jessie T. has made her way all the to HVC from Napier, New Zealand. During the year, she works in advertising. Jessie loves cycling, horses, and playing soccer.

John is from Indianapolis, Indiana and is currently studying photography and film there. His hobbies include cooking, playing Egyptian Ratscrew card game, and driving around aimlessly.

Junius joins us from San Antonio, Texas where he enjoys dancing and writing. Junius rows crew and will be attending university this fall after camp.

Katie D. , from North Haven, CT, returns to HVC for a third year this summer. She studies Biology and loves reading, soccer, running, and hiking.

Katie Jo is a native Mainer, more specifically she is from Dresden. She is studying Health Sciences and Holistic Health at UVM. She hopes to one day be a dietician. She loves running, yoga, and kayaking.

Kate W. , coming to us from Birmingham, England, is interested in sports and enjoys art, music, and gym. When not at camp, Kate is a student and works in retail.

Katy S . comes to us from Madison, CT. She studies Under Water Basket Weaving at Bard College. She loves to sing Broadway tunes and enjoys cooking but mostly she loves eating her masterpieces! She also loves poetry, reading, batiking, and macrame.

Kelci S. hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and her hobbies include reading, yoga, and playing with kittens. She also enjoys watching movies and attends university.

Laura B. was born and raised San Francisco, but now lives in Denver, Colorado. She loves to travel and has lots of hobbies such as snowboarding, scuba diving, camping, reading, and playing sports. After camp she will be leaving for Australia to start a new adventure.

Laura C. is from Brixham, Devon UK and is very excited to be working with the horses and campers this summer. She enjoys horse riding, reading, traveling, kayaking, and photography. Laura studies ecology and wildlife conservation.

Lauren , from Arundel, Maine, enjoys running, rugby, art, and volunteering. When not at camp, Lauren studies Disability Aid at Stonehill College, where she also works as an Athletics Assistant.

Mat joins HVC from Scarborough, Maine and is interested in outdoor education. He enjoys rock climbing, ultimate Frisbee, and skateboarding. He studies at Johnson State College.

Mel returns to camp for her 2^nd summer as a counselor, but 9^th overall including camper and AWAC years. She studies Political Science at the University of Vermont and enjoys playing volleyball, watching professional football, and singing karaoke.

Milton hails from Mexico City, Mexico where he studies Sociology and also works as a kindergarten teacher. In his free time, Milton enjoys playing music.

Melissa lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she studies Secondary English Education and Political Science. Melissa runs her own online jewelry boutique and loves to cook, read and decorate her apartment.

Micaela is from Spokane, Washington and goes to school at Eastern Washington University where she studies Biology. She enjoys reading, being outdoors, dancing, and music.

Mimi , New York City native, is a student studying Filmmaking and Cognitive Science. In her free time, Mimi enjoys ceramics, running, hiking, and dancing.

Natalie joins us from Denver, CO and will be entering grad school at the University of Denver this fall. She studies Sociology, Urban Studies, and Education. She enjoys reading, crochet, hiking, cooking, and biking.

Raywyn , hailing from Grafton, Australia, is very excited to join us this year at HVC. She teaches dance at home and studies travel and Tourism Management. She loves hanging out at the beach with friends and family in her free time.

Ryan P. traveled to HVC all the way from Sunderland, UK where he studies Physiology and Pharmacology in Preston. He enjoys playing football (American soccer), climbing, and music.

Rachel comes to HVC from Katonah, New York and is a student at Smith College. She studies English Literature and Education and her hobbies include singing, playing guitar, and hiking.

Rebecca is from New Jersey and loves tap dancing and yoga. She is a Theater major at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and cannot wait to begin teaching dance and singing here at camp!

Rob joins HVC from Memphis, TN and studies Political Science at Centro College. In his free time, Rob likes to play ultimate Frisbee.

Rory is from Cambridge, England. He studied Education and English at Brighton University. His hobbies include football and music. He will be teaching ropes and sports this year at camp.

Sara Paton , currently living in Springfield, Vermont when not at camp, enjoys all kinds of art, spending time outdoors, music, playing the drums, and reading. She also is interested in language, painting, and hiking.

Sara Plawker hails from Closter, New Jersey and loves playing rugby, singing, and playing guitar. She studies Politics and when not at camp, Sara studies at university.

Seth N. joins us from Trumball, CT and enjoys reading, running, and biking. Seth is a student, and he studies International Relations, English, and Philosophy.

Seann C. returns for his 4^th summer as a counselor at HVC. When Seann is not at camp, he works as a cook. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and astro photography is his free time.

Sean P. , from Rotorua, New Zealand, takes pleasure in snowboarding, motocross, water sports, rowing, and playing cards. He is also interested in carpentry and travels when not at camp.

Shannon is a Springfield, Vermont resident who is a nursing student when not at camp. She has a degree in Anthropology and Studio Art and is also interested in sculpture and glasswork. Some of her hobbies include hiking, reading, doing Triathlons, and swimming.

Shawn G. , from Bloomington, IN, studies Film Theory and enjoys playing basketball. When not at camp, Shawn works with adults with disabilities.

Stef M. travels to HVC from New York City and is a full-time student at Ithaca College where she studies Anthropology. She also is interested in creative and non-fiction writing. In her free time, she likes to tap dance, sing, act, bike, and swim.

Stephanie is from Frankfurt am Main, Germany where she studies Media and Journalism. She enjoys riding, hiking, jogging, and playing sports.

Tavis comes to HVC from Bradford, PA and studies Technical Theater. When not at camp, Tavis works as a stage-hand and theatrical designer. He also likes drinking lots of coffee and playing video games.

Stuart hails from Melbourne, Australia where he works part time and attends university. In his free time, Stuart loves to travel, play sports, watch movies, and hang out with his friends.

Zack R. , from Indiana, PA, is an art teacher when not at camp. He is interested in art education, fine art, and English. Some of his hobbies include drawing, painting, and writing.

Zack S. is from Kalamazoo, Michigan and enjoys cycling, volunteering, and cooking. He has a degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and will be going to Rwanda to teach English through the Peace Corps after camp.
