Hidden Valley Food - A Dining Experience

Variety is the word to describe Hidden Valley's nutritious meals! Campers choose their meals, supervised by their counselors. They eat in cabin groups in our dining hall or outside for a sunny, picnic style lunch.

"My child came home raving about the food and has spent the past few weeks making endless suggestions from your amazingly varied menu. Thanks a lot!"
- HVC Parent

In our diet we prefer...lots of choices, homemade recipes, whole grained bread and fresh fruits and vegetables. Balanced vegetarian offerings are available, as is peanut butter and jelly! We minimize sugar and processed red meats and rarely use canned foods in our healthy, tasty meals. And, of course, there are always plenty of "seconds".

"I've never tasted better pizza, even in NYC"
HVC Parent

"If we had to send a curious 10-year old gourmand to camp, this would be the one.... The food is among the best in camping.";
- Boston Magazine

We easily accommodate most special diets and food allergies. Call or email us to discuss your particular needs.

"We wanted to tell you how grateful we were to hear about the special care you took of her diatery needs. It's clear from her happy account of her summer (and rave reviews of the vegan chocolate chip cookies, cheeseless pizza and other delights) that the staff did an extraordinary job of making her feel safe and comfortable and extremely well fed. We know how much sensitivity and dedication that takes and are truly impressed. It meant so much to her and us that she could go away to camp."

We also offer healthy snacks such as popcorn, granola bars, juices and natural sodas during the afternoon.

"I have seen almost every camp kitchen in Maine and this one is the nicest. It's innovative and shows how much you think of the children here. I'm so impressed."
