Come and join us at Hidden Valley! Make an impact on children's lives, enjoy the woods of Maine, and meet the many challenges of working successfully in a community of talented children and adults.![]() We seek warm, bright, responsive, energetic, child-centered individuals for our staff of over 100 men and women.
Each year, our counselor group is as diverse as our camper population. Approximately 15% of our staff hails from countries such as Australia, France, Holland, Britain, and New Zealand; the rest come to Maine from throughout the U.S. Some former campers return to support the next generation of campers, many others are students, artists and outdoors-people who find that Hidden Valley's progressive values match their own, and quite a few staff return year after year, ensuring the continuity of programs, traditions, and the Hidden Valley philosophy.

Your Role at Camp:
- Live in a cabin with a group of campers and other staff
- Teach classes in different area including: visual arts, performing arts, sports, music, swimming, horseback riding, ropes course, dance, animal and llama care, and more!
- Help plan all camp activities and evening programs
Depending on young people's interest, Hidden Valley Camp is an art camp, a horse camp, an adventure camp, a performing arts camp, a farm camp, a dance camp, a water camp, a sports camp and much more. Or — because campers choose their summer camp activities — it can be all of these! Please take some time to find out how HVC camp counselors support our independent, non-competitive, creative and open-minded camper group. We are not a typical overnight kids coed summer camp!

"Thank
you for being for being so supportive, sensitive and caring to the
staff as well as the campers... I have personally grown this summer and
this would never have happened were it not for the two of you... Peter
- I shake my head in amazement watching you jump from meeting to
meeting and still take the time to really be there for everyone on a
personal level... Meg - thanks for being the universal "Mom" for
campers and staff...with such compassion, fairness and true wisdom."
"Our daughter chose Hidden Valley from the several camps she saw in videos. But videos cannot guarantee that there will be a caring person who takes time to notice that a child who is generally sunny may need some attention from time to time... I cannot tell you how comforting it was for us to know that you were there for her when she most needed a friend... Counselors like yourself make all the difference in a child's life and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. "
