Families Seek Meaningful Values in Camps-

Hidden Valley Blends the Old and New

ACA logoThe American Camp Association is the largest professional camping organization in the world. Through its inspection visits to camps, the ACA helps to make camping a safe, significant, and enriching experience for young people.

The ACA Accredited Camp Insignia is a recognized symbol of camps that are dedicated to quality. It says to those seeking a summer experience for their children, "This camp has been officially visited and has met or exceeded standards for health and safety, site and facilities, administration, and all of its camper programs."
While many children's summer resident camps today are market driven, replicating the glitz, glamour and gadgets associated with contemporary life, other camps, like Maine's Hidden Valley, strive to maintain long-standing traditions, offering child centered communities rich in deep-rooted values and Thoreau-inspired natural environments.

Hidden Valley, a co-ed sleepaway camp for children ages 8-13, offers an alternative because the mission-driven directors, Peter and Meg Kassen, believe their style of camp helps children grow into caring and creative adults.

Hidden Valley has its roots in the tradition of progressive children's communities. Over the years, the Kassens have built on the camp's history with a commitment to quality and professionalism, and a deep sensitivity to individual needs and the dynamics of group life. Click here to read more....
